MINI CHALLENGE - food ! ! (glorious food...)
This weeks mini challenge comes from a suggestions from my good friend Jess. (She is also starting a very interesting mini challenge on her family blog - G Units). The main rule is that it must food that I am consuming on the day.

Food #1 - pink grapefruit. Wanted to try one.. different... think I'll stick to having it in a Cruiser.

I wanted to create my own 'pattern'. My friend Carly and I are starting a project together which will lead to an exhibition. She is a print maker and we share a love of patterns... think vintage wallpaper, wrapping paper, fabric, scrapping paper.. etc. and something like the above. The pattern was.. yes.. created in photoshop but uses my photos of a succulent and a coffee cup. I have done similar work in a past post. It also ties in a little with the theme for the project and thats what inspired me to create this. It is to do with a woman's domestic environment, in particular rural women. I can imagine a 1930's - 1940's fabric version of this, although it'd be quite different images (like Marge's corn curtains from the Simpson's) used for curtains or a table cloth. Read more about our project at Cont'd.

135, 136, 137, 138, 139, 140, 141 & 142
Some of the photos below are my first contribution, for the project, from my mobile phone cam. They are titled in the bottom right corner.
Photo #142
Love a good painting with light, as I call them..
Photo # 141
The keg in the foreground shows the volume.. 3410 litres and 750 gallons. Thats a lot of port. See more pics (not from ph cam) on LIME.
Photo #140
Love a good abstract, such pretty colours too.
Photo #139
One of the big kegs, or hogs head, used to store and age the port at work. We bottle straight from it.
Photo #138
Heading to work early, this is the state of the car as I leave my cosy house.. is that ice or snow..???..
Photo #137
Photo #136
I work for a winery doing wine and port tastings... among other less glamorous things. Its in a big tin shed which is actually heritage listed. Great atmosphere, but freeeeezzzzing, so we LOVE the fireplace!
Photo #135

Day 106 to 124... a big catch up and a confession..
So you may have noticed a huge absence of photos, and you'd be right in assuming I've fallen off the rails with my project.
Someone said to me when I first started this project 'what do you get.. is there a prize..' and which I replied 'No... nothing, its a personal challenge...a creative challenge'.
I had a week away..a week off from the norm...off work.. away from home.. and somewhere in there I took a week or so off from taking pics. Although as you'll see below, not completely.
I made a decision to not throw away the whole project, as I would be more disappointed in myself if I did that.
So I gathered up some work, 18 images to be exact, to help the catch up and to fill in the gaps. It is all work that has been taken or created in my time off, they fall into 3 groups of 6, with a theme each. I didn't even try and match days, I have left that blank.
Group #1 - something a bit different as I didn't have 18 shots I could use.. instead I've created these works entirely from scratch, using my photos to create 'brushes' in photoshop. Sort of like a stamp, I guess. Good fun.
Group #2 - Family fun day.. images from hanging out at an indoor play centre with my parents, my two brothers, and my niece and nephew... and my son and hubby while away.
Something abstract thrown in..
Below is my son with my niece and nephew, and I'm very proud of this shot, we've tried for ages (how old is Bain.. 3 1/2 years..) to get this shot.
Above.. was actually taken at my bros 30th b'day... love Bain in this shirt.
Group #3 - When nothing inspires.. I look to the skies..
The changing weather and my changing backyard is something I really enjoy photographing, sorry if it gets boring for you the viewer. And the special thing about the sky, is that unless you grab your camera and run, you may miss out. The blue/pink sky below vanished as I was taking the shots.
